I'm wondering why the fuck this song is listed as "Timbaland feat. One Republic."
If the video is any clue, all he does is sit there and fiddle with the levels. So he's the producer. I think that hardly counts as him performing the song. It's the band that's performing. Why is it that they're the guests on his song? I just don't understand. Ich bin total verwirrt.

sink
So I broke my sink. Who'd a thunk I'd be able to break a sink? It happened when I went to wipe the steam of the bathroom mirror with my towel so I could shave. The towel knocked over the coffee mug we keep our toothbrushes in, which proceeded to fall into the sink and leave a large hole.
The fact that the sink broke and not the mug is quite amazing I must say. It helps that there was already a crack - several in fact - present in the sink beforehand. For some reason however I was required not to talk about this in the insurance paperwork. I figure it actually is probably easier for everybody this way. Otherwise a whole drama of who cracked it, would it have broken if it wasn't cracked, who should pay for it now, etc. would ensue. As it stands I'm going to let my insurance cover it which means it will end up costing me like 15€ which is hardly anything at all.
A word of advice to everybody: carry renter's or personal liability insurance of some sort. You never know when random shit like this will happen and you're suddenly faced with owing two or three hundred bucks to fix a window, a door, someone's lawn gnome, whatever.
The sink is now already fixed. I broke it on Friday so that was pretty quick I suppose. Something that is very strange to me is how much the Hausmeister controls the cleaning of the apartments. This morning I woke up and went to the bathroom and to get a glass of water, and suddenly I hear him come in the front door with some women. I'm still in my boxers and a little hungover, and I have no idea who this lady is. I think she might be some sort of health inspector or something, I don't know. But we have until Friday to get the place much cleaner than it is right now. Crazy Germans.

Turkey Day
It's sorta disheartening (sp? even a word?) spending Thanksgiving away from home. This will be my first Thanksgiving I've spent away from Chicago since I was 7. Before that I don't really remember so it doesn't really count. Well, there were the times we had Thanksgiving at Nanie's in RI, but that also doesn't really count.
I hate how hard it was to organize some sort of dinner here. Everyone is all cliqued off and it's really frustrating. We're here in a foreign country, and there's a whole huge group of us that just hang out with the couple Germans that speak really good English, and do nothing but speak English and be exclusive. But I rant. I am having dinner with a few of the Americans I feel I get along decently with. I just wish we did more stuff.
Tomorrow is London, my train leaves the Hbf at 7.20, which means I have to catch a Strassenbahn at 6.43. That means waking up at the latest 6.00. Whatev, it will be much fun and there will be many pictures. Monday morning it's London -> Berlin, which will also be much fun. At least I've been there and can show the Mother around and pretend to know what the hell I'm doing in this country.
I need to download MATLAB so I can start on my DSV project. Well not really a project, but I don't think I necessarily have to do it in the lab if I have Matlab at home, which is nice. I just have to go in and demonstrate my results at the end of it, which won't be a problem.
Hmm. Anyways, I need to go try to find sweet potatoes. And beer. Where in the world am I going to find beer.

Instant Coffee
Why is instant coffee so terrible? I mean it makes sense that anything instant can't be as good as the original. Milk, for instance.
I just wish I had an easy way to make one cup of coffee in the morning. Just one. But any coffee pot only makes a bunch. It sucks.

long time no see
Wow, my last post was about being sick of moving out of my place in Gansett. However, since then I have moved out, moved in, moved back out, moved in, moved out yet again, and finally somewhat settled in here in Germany.
I think I might actually try to update this thing a little more often than I have been in the past. But that's just an empty promise in all likelihood. I'm pretty sure I've said that before so it's up to you if you believe me.
I should say something about Germany. I dunno, eventually I'll start posting about my general observations and things that I've learned while I'm here. You'll probably be entertained.

*shrug*
Sick of dealing with moving out. I just want to be in my new place already.
But anyways, I'll be moving all my stuff to temporary storage at URI tomorrow.
I really need to get on my stuff for Germany, paperwork and shit. Gah I want some chocolate milk.
